Wisdom from James Allen & my beloved late Stepfather, Earl Nightingale

"As you dream, so shall you become."

A quote featured in the book which I'm re-reading,
Earl Nightingale's Greatest Discovery (a favorite of mine)
From James Allen, As a Man Thinketh.

Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become.
Your Vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your Ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil. The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.
You will realize the Vision (not the idle wish) of your heart, be it base or beautiful, or a mixture of both, for you will always gravitate toward that which you, secretly, most love. Into your hands will be placed the exact results of your own thoughts; you will receive that which you earn; no more, no less.

You many not know that my Stepfather was the legendary motivational speaker and author, excellent human being/doing, Earl Nightingale.
Earl came into our lives by the grace of God, who led him, after decades of searching, to my beautiful, intelligent, loving, amazing mom, Diana.
You'll have to buy her book, Learning to Fly as a Nightingale, she gives an intimate look into their life together & their timeless "inspirational love story". http://earlnightingale.com/store/page3.html

Their marriage was truly a life-long, path-changing blessing for our family. We learned an entirely new way of thinking and living, how to say "yes" to life! Earl taught me so many priceless lessons, at an age when most young people are just following the follower, Earl showed me that I am an original, a leader, a free spirit. I hadn't thought about those things before, I never thought about much other than having fun. I didn't have any real direction or purpose in my life before he showed me that I could do anything my heart moved me to do.

Growing up, I had always known love and was taught good values, but people were also taught to join the ranks; go to school, get a job, look like and live like everyone else does. I went from a very shy girl who hadn't stepped foot off of Ft. Myers Beach Florida to living in Carmel, California with a great, big, powerful legend. It was more than culture shock, it was intimidating, an entirely different way of life a new way of looking at things, at oneself, looking inside and finding purpose and joy in there!

I promise to share more stories with you. I believe that God, by way of this amazing man, shaped me into the well balanced, loving, thankful, happy person I am to this day. I hope to become even "more better" ;o)
